Fall Decorating Ideas for the Entryway

Do you decorate for all the seasons?  I usually do mostly because I get bored looking at the same things around the house. Today I’ve got some fall decorating ideas for the entryway. I didn’t do a lot for this area of the house other than change up the vignettes. I’ve got a huge window in this space so there’s not a lot to do with the walls; it’s just a matter of adding fall elements to vertical surfaces.

Nothing too elaborate in this space. A few berry branches, candles, and my newest enamelware mug.

I found the perfect novel for fall reading.  First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen. It’s about two sisters from North Carolina whose lives are changed during the fall season when a stranger strolls into town.

The green gourd in the background is an apple gourd. I’ve never seen one and had to bring it home when we were looking for pumpkins to decorate my fall front porch.

A magnolia wreath with a few burnished leaves graces the front door. I love to sit at the entryway desk and enjoy the view of my gardens outside. With the temperatures dropping, a lightweight throw in blue and white keeps my legs warm. A patterned pillow adds just the right touch of orange for autumn decorating.

Branches of orange and slightly pink berries are on display in my vintage aqua jar.

You might remember that my cow wall hanging used to live in the dining room.

I decided to put him in a more prominent place where he can greet people entering the front door.  One of my fall decorating ideas is to fill an empty cigar box with baby boos and berries.

I buy empty cigar boxes from Binny’s Beverage Depot. They always have a stack of them for $1.50 each and some of the boxes are really good quality. Last year I transformed a cigar box into a frosty Christmas scene.

I love some of the detailing you find on the cigar boxes. They’re such an inexpensive item for decorating your home.

Fall decorating ideas will soon turn into Christmas ideas. But for now, I’m going to enjoy the soft colors of fall and can’t wait to see the trees in all their glorious color out my entryway window.

  1. Hi I really like your fall decoration,it is not at all typical of the ones I have seen on other blogs.I never taught of to use blue/green colour but it is so fresh.

  2. Are the berries real or faux? If real, what are they? They look so pretty and add nice vertical height in your decor.

I need to find some cigar boxes. I’m going to check a few shops in town to see where I might get some.

  3. Your entryway is charmimg.as always. I cannot find any baby boos in my neck of illinois. I’m thinking I should just grow some next year. You are not too far from me, where did you find yours?
