New Rug in My Sitting Room: Cozy Living

Today is the first Saturday of January and that means it’s time for another Cozy Living post with my blogging friends. I cozied up my dining room for the winter with a new area rug in brown, beige, and sage green. Similar to the colors in the landscape painting on the wall. (This post contains affiliate links.)

You may or may not have noticed the new rug during my Christmas home tour. I found both the area rug and new coffee table at Wayfair. Since the sitting room is adjacent to the dining room, I wanted to choose a rug that would complement my dining room rug.

Since the background of the dining rug is light, I opted for a dark background in the sitting room. The flowered pattern has a slight bit of green in the swirling leaves. The kitchen floor is green so it worked out well having a touch of the color in the sitting room rug.

I love the cozy, warm feeling of a rug underneath my feet. Especially during the winter months.

  1. Another cozy addition to your home. Don’t you just love a new soft rug underfoot? I purchased a sisal-type rug for under my table in the dining area at the end of my kitchen. I have to walk on parts of it when passing to and from from my sliding door to the patio and to my pantry in the kitchen area and do not like the roughness of it at all, even wearing shoes. I’ll leave it to catch wet dog tracks for the winter, but when Spring/Summer comes, it will be gone – either replaced with something softer or with nothing at all.
You know I’ve always loved your vintage green tile floor, and your new rug is a perfect transition from one room to another. Your home is just looking more amazing all the time. You should be so proud of what you’ve done.

  2. So pretty! Everything just goes together so well. Great choice in rug. You have impeccable taste and your house looks more beautiful all the time. Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2019!

  3. That rug is so lovely! I must say, that view into your kitchen has me feeling all the warm fuzzies too, the plant hanging in the window the stool, that awesome floor! I bet visiting your home is like a great big hug! xo

  4. Very, very pretty! I love the way you have put things together. I think I would be drawn to that room all day.

  5. I traveled over from Instagram to see your home, it is lovely so warm and inviting! I too could spend time in this room! This is just perfect!! I would love to have you share your home for my weekly visitors on #omhgff.. Link in Profile for Friday Features. 🌷

  6. I love the painting of the pasture with the cows that is hanging over the white side table. Where did you get it?

  7. I totally agree with Pat M. Sisal might be “in” but I do not like the way it feels. We have a tendency to go barefoot a lot and sisal is not barefoot friendly! I’m shopping Wayfair now for a replacement.

  8. The cow and landscape farm art says welcome and come sit a while which is my favorite. The rug ties everything together. I’m like you, I have to have a rug under my feet in the winter (plus the fuzzy slippers). Your home is such a warm space Jennifer. That kitchen with your hanging plant in the window and the green tile is so pretty and timeless.

  9. Love your room! Where can I purchase the large picture of the pasture? I would like to add black and green to my living room

  10. I love your new rug in the sitting room. Is the buffet under the picture something you refinished? I have my Mother’s buffet and hutch and it is cherry wood. It is to dark for me and thought about doing the chalk paint in white and making it brighter. It is something that was bought in the 80’s and I don’t want to get rid of it, but it really isn’t me.

    1. The buffet was refinished by a friend of mine. She used chalk paint. She layered off-white over blue paint so that some of the blue shows through after sanding it to look worn.  But you could just use the white to make it easier.  🙂

  11. Hi,

    This looks so cozy!

Could you tell me the name of the rug? I’m not sure if I am looking at the same one you have.

    Thanks! Karen
