How to Create a Cozy Entryway
Welcome to the first Saturday in February! I’m making a few small changes in my house this year. The first change was painting the sitting room a warmer color. The second thing is creating a cozy entryway that’s also welcoming.
Today is “Cozy Living Saturday” with my blogging friends. We’re each sharing what we’re doing this month to create coziness in our lives. For me, it’s the addition of a new wooden bench and glass-door cabinet for the entry.
The new bench is from Birch Lane and was my Christmas gift from my hubby. We moved the upholstered chair that used to be in the entryway to one of the bedrooms. That left a blank spot that needed to be filled in order to create a cozy entryway.
The textured gray pillows are from my favorite local shop, Cocoon in Geneva, Illinois. The little shelf underneath gives me a new place to stack some of my favorite books. I really have too many books but hate to give any of them up.
It took me a while to find the right cabinet to go on the wall next to the bench. I found an Amish style cabinet for $700 but didn’t want to spend that much money, so I opted for the glass-doored cabinet in drift gray from Wayfair.
I’m still working on what to put inside the cabinet. I need to do some rearranging in a few other cabinets first.
I’m sure I’ll change things around on the top of the cabinet too, but for now, I like the little landscape painting on its petite easel.
My houseplants are still doing great. The sansaveria on the cabinet is really easy to grown, and my philodendron on the floor is still doing great after moving it back indoors after the summer. I might put a different plant in the bird cage.
So that’s my little update to the entryway. Now be sure to see what my friends have going on this month at the links below!

Thank you, Pat! Enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful entryway. I live in NJ and want t o drive to Geneva to go to Cocoon for those pillows!
Entry so warm and welcoming.
Hi Karen!
Thank you! I was hoping Cocoon had the pillows available in their online store but unfortunately, they didn’t. They might have sold out of them. If you ever do get to Geneva, it’s a charming town with plenty of shopping and dining. You’d love Cocoon!
Hi Jennifer, Your entry looks great. I just love the pillows from Cocoon. I am so surprised that you got them there. I didn’t know we are practically neighbors! I live in Crystal Lake and an old school chum is in Gilberts, so pre Covid (and in better weather) we pop over to Geneva and browse the shops and always stop at The Little Traveler for lunch. Who knows, maybe in the Spring we’ll run into you!? Stay warm! Karen
Such pretty pieces to work into your entryway! I really like the idea of a little glass cabinet to display some special treasures and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that new bench, especially all cozied up with cushions! Everything looks beautiful Jennifer!
Thanks Kristi! I love that little bench too. Enjoy your weekend – and stay warm!
Hello
I really like how the glass cabinet has glass on the sides as well. Very different! I enjoy what you share with us.
Thank you
Angie
Thanks Angie! I’m glad you enjoy the blog!!
Your entry is just perfect. I love the little grey cabinet . Anything which is cute plus has storage is my kind of furniture. Your bench and pillow choices are so pretty as well as practical. I dont have the space for a bench in my entry but do have a pretty cabinet with antique shelves above it to display my blue pottery and at times switched out for seasonal decor. I also have a large dracaena next to it which is very happy.
Oooh, I love the new wall color. So pretty. The bench is perfect and love how that glass cabinet gives you storage but it doesn’t feel to bulky. xx
Thanks Danielle. I wanted something a little different for the cabinet area. 🙂
Love the bench and the cabinet. Both look beautiful in your entry. Nice to have a shelf under the bench and I am always in favor of some place to show some pretty decor in glass front cabinets. Great job on creating a pretty and inviting entry.
Thanks, Marty! One of my kitties likes that shelf under the bench, too. I think he feels safe and cozy there
Stellar job, as always, Jennifer! I love both of your new pieces. You always have such a warm and inviting home. Just beautiful. Have a great and warm weekend.
Thanks Miche! I always appreciate your kind comments. Hope your weekend is enjoyable!
Your bench is lovely and so is your new cabinet. It’s a different pretty setting and just amazing as you are a great decorator, I love all you do. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks Marlene! I’m glad you enjoy the blog. 🙂
I love your bench and cabinet. It is something I would definitely have if I had the room. Those pillows are divine, when we can travel again I need to come and visit your shops. I always love what you do and you make everything so warm and inviting.
Love the paint color change and that space feels lighter with the bench instead of the chair, must be it lets more natural light in from the window now. I love Amish made furniture but you’re right its expensive. Beautiful changes that feel so cozy!
Your entryway is so inviting and cozy! I love that bench, it’s just perfect, I especially love that shelf for extra storage!
What a cozy spot! I love your new bench and especially those new textured pillows!!! Just gorgeous!!!
