Rusty Bucket Gets Frenchified

This rusty bucket has been hanging around my front porch forever. I can’t remember where exactly I got this, but I’m pretty sure I either picked it off a garbage pile fore free or grabbed it at a garage sale for just a buck or two. Anywho … it’s time this bucket started earning its keep so it got a scrubbing and a makeover.

Here’s what she looks like today after getting cleaned up.
I left some of the rust on it to give it texture under the paint.
Here she is in her pre-makeover glory.
I used a mix of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre and Pure White.
Then I gave it a whitewash, wiping some of the excess off.
Then I applied the Paris graphic from The Graphics Fairy.
This close-up shows the rusty texture behind the Paris graphic.
And here she is in the bathroom, next to my newly painted claw foot tub.
Yep, I finally painted the tub! Makin’ a few changes in the bathroom.
Stay tuned for the edits, which were based on your feedback!  🙂

  1. I love your new bucket. I can’t even fathom how you make the graphic transfers using modgepodge. I am def gonna try to do it very soon myself but I doubt if I’ll have the “touch” to get it right! Can’t wait to see your bathroom tub Have a great week!!

  2. You always have awesome stuff! Love the pretty, fresh coat of white with your design technique. I’m hoping to find some galvanized buckets/containers at my next flea market hunt. Have a great week!

  4. Wow! I turned out great! I’ve never tried mod podge on anything yet. Well we used to use it in the 70’s when we did “decoupaged” things….but I haven’t done anything with it since!
I’ll have to read up on it!

  5. What a great transformation! I love the frenchy transfer you used!!!!
