Custom Built Traditional Home in New York

Today we’re touring a custom-built traditional home that’s located just north of New York City and south of Greenwich. Although it’s filled with high-end details, the house is comfortable and livable.

Step inside for a glimpse of the elegant yet livable beauty throughout the house. A spiderweb window crowns the front door into a well-lit entryway. A custom stair rail invites you in to explore more.

The light-filled eat-in kitchen features soft Roman shades that filter the natural light but don’t block it. Practical leather chairs (easier to clean than cloth fabric) cozy up to the breakfast table.

The white kitchen enjoys high-end finishes from the custom ceiling treatment to the cabinets, tile back splash, and gorgeous counter tops.

It’s always the details that make the house and this one isn’t short on them. A blue and white tile graces the area above the stove, complete with a pot filler (I’ve always wanted one of these).

The dining room is equally beautiful with its soft blue wallpaper and peach-colored dining chairs.

I remember when peach and blue was a popular color combination back in the 80s, but its a palette that, in my opinion, never goes out of style.

The family room in this traditional home is filled with wonderful details. Instead of a traditional fireplace, a more rustic stone fireplace was chosen. A coffered ceiling is home to iron and glass pendant lights while a series of French doors let in plenty of natural daylight.

Soft blue coats the walls of the serene master bedroom with yet another custom ceiling treatment and pretty chandelier. A 4-poster bed is always a classic choice.

The bedroom enjoys a sitting area with a fireplace and window seat for curling up with a good book.

Outside, a screened in porch keeps bugs at bay while dining al fresco or enjoying the lounge area on a summer’s day.

  1. NICE HOME! Especially loved the light sky blue color on the screen porch ceiling. I’ve been thinking about doing that for a while and am now sufficiently motivated. 😇

  2. Love everything about this house…but….I’m not a huge fan of modern contemporary lighting…love the chandeliers though. I’m nobody to talk though as selecting the lighting in the house is the hardest thing for me. I do like the old styles though for sure. That kitchen!! Oh my! Beautiful tiles! One thing that caught my eye were that every single ceiling was also completed and styled not just painted. Lovely! I can see myself by that fireplace reading a book about right now:0)..maybe a silly Harry Potter get away? Lol

  3. Just gorgeous! I love how the exterior colors prepare you for the color pallet carried throughout the interior. Thank you so much, and have a great week.

  4. What a beautiful home. The kitchen is huge! Loved all the fireplaces. So pretty. And you could sit in the screened in porch area for hours almost. Lovely. All of it.
