Mountain Cottages and Duck Green: Friday Finds

Two more days. We have two more days before the BIG DAY – Christmas. A wintry cold snap blew into town just in time for the holidays. So now I’m craving anything warm and cozy, and anything the color green, which reminds me of summer. Take a moment of “me time” and enjoy this week’s Friday Finds with your favorite warm beverage!

I’m a sucker for a cabin getaway and this Montana cabin doesn’t disappoint. The stone fireplace is a little unique, and the ladder to the library is whimsical. And then of course, there are the amazing views through the expansive windows. So beautiful!

Moving on from Montana, let’s see how four designers perfect the mountain cottage look. Perhaps it’s warm coziness we’re all after, because mountain and/or cabin style is definitely enjoying a resurgence these days.

While we’re on the subject of “warm and cozy,” don’t miss this small, powder room makeover. I’m especially interested in bathrooms these days because our downstairs bathroom is the first room I’m tackling after the holidays. New floor, new trim, new color, and maybe some wallpaper, too.

Since this is the last Friday Finds before the holidays, I’ll include this adorable Christmas kitchen that was featured in Country Living magazine last year.

On another note, I’m currently crushing on Farrow and Ball’s Duck Green paint color. If you visit the page, you’ll see a claw foot tub painted Duck Green and I’m thinking the upstairs claw foot tub would look great in this color.

And finally, if you’re in need of a quick holiday snack to serve guests this holiday weekend, check out my Christmas popcorn recipe. Kids and adults love it!

Enjoy the holiday weekend, and don’t forget to pamper yourself a bit while you’re at it!

  1. Love this green. In 1993 our master bedroom was a similar color with pretty Laura Ashley bedding to match.
Longest night has passed, and being the opposite of you I live in dread of July-October where the heat at altitude is so enervating. I love all the trees and grass and flowers of summer, but also love the trees without leaves too. There are lots of pines in Colorado, adding a beautiful full green. Green! the color of healing.
