Renovated Lake Cottage Will Make You Want to Go on Vacation

After seeing today’s renovated lake cottage located in northern Georgia and photographed by Gridley + Graves, I’m now convinced I need to visit that region for a vacation. I’ve been to Savannah, Tybee Island, and Atlanta, but never stayed in the Appalachian area of the state. If I could find a rental cottage like this one, I’d make a reservation in a heartbeat.

Step inside and find a rustic yet sturdy staircase with a rope banister. A little reading alcove is tucked underneath, making the best use of space.

The renovated lake cottage has an open floor plan on the first level. The living room, dressed in brown and red, opens up to the kitchen and dining area. I’m loving the color combination for this lakeside retreat. The palette creates a cozy vibe.

Be sure to take note of all the details in this home, like the train station clock between the living room and kitchen. I have wanted a clock like this for years. I just need to figure out where to put it.

Here’s a better view of the kitchen with its taupe Shaker style cabinets. The ceiling throughout the cottage adds wonderful architectural interest. I think I might need to add those piano stools in my kitchen next to the island. They add so much charm.

My favorite Windsor chairs gather round the wood dining table with an Early American style light fixture above. Bamboo shades add texture at the windows.

Upstairs you’ll find a bunk bedroom that’s perfect for kids, although I’d sleep here. The ticking stripe bedding provides a camp style vibe, and who wouldn’t want to sleep with the door to the upper screened porch open all night?

A second bedroom is also located next to the porch for open air sleeping.

Some of the best parts of the cottage are on the exterior. A large deck has an expansive view of the lake.

Here’s a view of the two-story screened porch nestled between the trees. And isn’t deep green the perfect color for this waterfront home in the northern hills and woods of Georgia?

A unique outdoor shower provides a place to rinse off sandy feet.

If you need a little privacy, head out to the corner of this dock. I don’t know for sure, but I’m guessing this is the boat house.
