Amazing Arts and Crafts Home: Best of Environmentally Friendly
Today’s tour is a little unique as well as quite appealing. A classic Arts and Crafts style home was renovated with a green focus in mind. The result is a LEED certified home. If you’re not familiar with LEED, it stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. So basically there are environmentally-friendly (aka “green”) finishes and details. The home is charming and stayed true to many of its original elements during the renovation by LDa Architecture and Interiors.
This charming Arts and Crafts home showcases timeless architectural details with its rich green cedar shingle siding, exposed rafter tails, and crisp white trim. The symmetrical facade is elevated by the distinctive round window, adding character and a touch of whimsy beside the warmly stained wooden front door. Above, a gabled dormer features grouped windows that invite natural light into the upper level while contributing to the home’s classic Craftsman aesthetic.

Inside you’ll find more pleasing details throughout like custom molding and a stained glass window in the beautiful wood door. Rich wood floors and natural light make the interiors come alive.

This inviting living room fireplace blends classic craftsmanship with contemporary flair. The glossy black subway tile surround adds a bold contrast to the crisp white mantel, which is accented with corbels and clean lines typical of traditional design. A brick hearth grounds the space with rustic charm, while the artwork and simple decor on the mantel keep the look polished and personal.

The kitchen enjoys a unique farmhouse sink, painted cabinetry, and a pretty faucet fixture. Multi-paned windows provide a view of the flower garden outside.

Rich, warm wood cabinetry flanks the other side of the Arts and Crafts kitchen elevating the artistry of this beautiful home.

My favorite part of the kitchen is this sunny breakfast nook. What a great place to start the day and enjoy morning sunshine with a cup of coffee and a scone.

You’ll find more warm wood in the small powder room with its custom vanity.

I love a beautiful staircase and especially love when a wood railing is paired with white spindles.

A blue bedroom enjoys a cozy reading nook, and did you notice the built-in drawers?

This gorgeous bedroom feels like your bathing in the tree tops with all the windows. I love the creative way the mirrors are hung above the vanity.

Another nice Arts & Crafts renovation! Of course it had to go on my Home Tours board! The kitchen and the reading nooks caught my eye…what is it about nooks that we love?
What I love most is the stain glass windows they are so rare today. Even better on a sunny day.
My favorite was the stained glass windows and that eating nook. I have always loved Arts and Crafts homes and this was a beauty.
