Jaw-Dropping Traditional Stone House in Raleigh

Oh boy! Every once in awhile you come across a gorgeous home that literally makes your jaw drop when you see it. That’s how I felt when I stumbled across this traditional stone house by Rufty Custom Built Homes in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Step inside and see the ceilings soar with gorgeous wood beams and large arched windows. The mostly neutral color scheme enjoys a touch of blue in the traditional living room. Sitting on the comfy couches affords a beautiful view of the woodsy outdoors.

The kitchen in today’s traditional stone house has a mix of wood and painted cabinets. The large range hood is especially impressive along with granite counter tops and a custom tile backsplash.

You’ll notice the application of arched doorways throughout the home, not to mention elegant trim work. The dining room has beautiful molding along with a gracious chandelier that I’m sure sparkles beautifully in the evening.

You don’t see grand pianos in homes too often these days. My sister had one in her house; she’s quite talented when tickling the ivories. I love that this traditional stone house includes a room just for the piano, along with a pair of elegant chairs for enjoying a private concert. Even the man in the portrait appears to enjoy the music.

Is there such a thing as an elegant laundry room? Yes there is – at least, this house has one! I love the coordination of colors in this space. The pale gray and yellow tiles and taupe walls perfectly match the colors in the window covering. It’s so lovely and the perfect place for doing laundry.

As if the interior spaces weren’t beautiful enough, this home enjoys elegant outdoor areas. A stone fireplace with an enclosed television resides in the enclosed back porch. The wood ceiling is so rich-looking with the two tones of wood stain and the furniture looks comfy and attractive.

On the other side of the enclosed porch is a beautiful dining set with outdoor grill and bar. Whoever lives in this home is extremely lucky and I think they should adopt me.

You’ll find more custom trim work in the master bedroom with its gorgeous wooden bed. French doors lead to a balcony overlooking the wooded property. What a pretty view to wake up to each morning!

The Raleigh home looks equally lovely from the outside at night.

  1. I remember when the HGTV give-a-way homes used to be decorated like this. The past few years they are C-R-A-Z-Y colors and gaudy decor themes. I miss the elegant, soothing style as shown in this gorgeous home. Maybe they’ll adopt us both????

  2. I agree with Deb..the new HGTV homes aren’t in my taste. I think the designs they apply now just won’t stand the test of time.

The details in the ceiling, the floors down to the painted archway for the painting really are nicely done.

Outside of the wood cabinets that I’d change to white, I would so enjoy living here.

  3. Of course this home is beautiful. However, I think the piano is turned the wrong way. Years ago I was taught the piano should face “into the room”, i.e., the player should be where the two chairs are and the open piano would face into the room to allow the sound to escape in that direction (the hearers). Maybe someone should check this.

  4. I seem to be dropped from your email list. I haven’t received a post all month. Did you have an issue or should I subscribe again?

  5. This is a beautiful home, indeed! The kitchen is timeless and elegant. No crazy colors that will grow old quickly. The outdoor dining space is perfect! I love just about everything but don’t really “get” the sliding doors for the tv above the fireplace. Why hide a tv? Everyone knows that’s what’s there anyways. Thank you for sharing this lovely home!

    1. The doors are probably there to protect it somewhat from the weather. My guess. Having seen so many folks go through outdoor TVs like crazy, I thought it rather clever.

  6. All your posts are so lovely, inspirational. But I am looking for very inexpensive makeover, updates, for small houses in upstate NY (NOT the Hudson Valley or Catskills areas!!) There is a huge range of small cities and climates if you go to actual CNY- Syracuse and Utica, Herkimer, Albany, Corning, up to Plattsburgh, and all along the Keene Valley, even Massena .and Buffalo , Fredonia, Tonawanda. Just full of older small communities and family friendly communities.
