Cozy Summer Cottages to Love
Do you have memories of vacationing in cozy summer cottages? I have vague memories of a lakeside cottage vacation in Canada when I was just a little girl. A few years later I remember taking a trip to Arkansas to vacation in a woodsy cottage with my grandparents. Both trips are fond summer memories from my youth. When my own children were little we took regular vacations to one of the cozy summer cottages on Hilton Head Island. Today I’m sharing a bit of that nostalgia with a collection of cozy beach cottages I think you’ll love.

Palm trees stand at attention near the entrance of this coastal style cottage. Sandy colored shingle shakes pair with light aqua trim, recalling the colors of the sea.

Here’s summer cottage perfection. Right outside your door is the sand and the sea.

How fun is this mid-century modern vacation rental? You can’t help but have a good time when staying here.
Cool blues adorn the façade of this craftsman-style bungalow. A collection of rockers line the porch for enjoying morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

You can almost smell the ocean air and imagine the views of the beach and shoreline from the second story deck of this fabulous home.

Summer cottages require beach cruiser bicycles for exploring the coast line. One thing I loved about Hilton Head Island was all the bike trails winding through the homes and golf courses. This photo takes me back to renting beach bikes and enjoying the live oaks dripping with Spanish moss.
A simple porch provides a shaded respite from the summer sun at this tiny cottage. You can see the inside of this Australian home.
A skinny door is made to look heftier with shutters painted the same color.
This summer beauty looks so enchanting all lit up at night. All that’s missing are the fireflies!

Cottages emanate a charm all their own. I love the matching French doors on this house.

These are all wonderful – wouldn’t you love to take a tour of the inside of each one? We go on vacation to a small beach town every year with my husband’s family and it is a lot of fun. I hope you get a chance to do that with your family.
I haven’t stayed in a beach cottage since I was a kid. It was fun, but definitely not as pretty as the ones in this post. I may have give it another try!
I’ve done a rustic cabin on Lake of the Ozarks as a kid, to a rustic cabin on Kentucky Lake with our own kids, to a cottage in the South of France wine country with friends. All fantastic summer get-aways. Can’t beat a good summer cottage!
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for all of those lovely pictures. We are trying to decide on a colour scheme for our cottage/home and these will be so helpful in making our decision. The best part about living here is that we are at the beach all year long. Have a great day.

All pretty. My favorite is the second one and is what I followed when I remained my house, including the brick, last year.
This put a smile on my face this morning! Lovely inspiration!
